I repurpose planks of wood salvaged from a variety of different places and with a range of different original uses: scaffold companies, leftovers from other art projects, cladding and pallets. The boards are cleaned, especially the scaffold boards often covered with plaster, paint and dirt. They are then sanded using graded sandpapers from coarse through to fine for the front and sides. Once the boards are constructed together when needed,  as double or triple boards, the images are drawn by hand and then the lines are burned into the wood’s surface using a pyrography tool. Time to paint! The colours are carefully chosen: the brighter and bolder, the better! Once completed, I finish with two coats of outdoor varnish to proof it against the elements, sanding between coats. Et voila!
